Aliki Rovithi and Foant Asour formed an Athens based industrial design team called DEDE DextrousDesign. They have been working together since 2007 and they have participated in the “DESIGN 2009” and the “DESIGN LAB 2010” design exhibitions in Athens as well as in the “GREEN DESIGN FESTIVAL 2010”, an open-air event, that explores sustainable design in all forms and applications, and suggests a friendlier, towards the environment, way of life. From the 14th to the 19th of April 2010 DEDE participated in the international fair for young designers SALONESATELLITE 2010, in Milan. DEDE think that innovation and conceptual approach can make a difference in the industrial and product design field. They also believe that humor can generate unorthodox and stimulating thinking that contributes to progressive ideas and therefore to unconventional design items. DEDE received the RED DOT award:design concept 2010 for the “THIS SIDE UP” table. Their design item "GET THE HANG OF IT" bag recently won the Platinum A' Design award 2010. Aliki Rovithi was born in Athens, Greece. She received a university degree in mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece and a BA (Hons) in industrial and product design from the Middlesex University(Athens branch). Foant Asour was born in Athens, Greece. He attended the arabic high school in Athens and received a higher diploma in industrial and product design from the Middlesex University(Athens branch).

Hello, we are DEDE DextrousDesign, thanks for stopping by. In Greece we love to relax over a good meal; dishes like soups and hot beverages add variety to our plate. We also have a sense of humor, which is why we've designed the SLURP MUG, just for your favorite drink.
We've perked up the everyday cup by giving it an extraordinary character. Inspired by the soup ladle, SLURP MUG's handle gives you a good grip and keeps your fingers safe, when you enjoy a piping hot drink.

Manufacturing
Our style of working preserves the unique, ancient techniques of the Greek ceramic tradition. Clay is our natural choice of material because of its sustainability and its smaller environmental impact. The process of molding this cup with the exceptional integrated handle is manual and time-consuming. Achieving the suitable ceramic wall thickness in order to avoid deformations during the finishing and firing process was our biggest challenge. In short, it's labor of love!
